# Current conduction

`CURRENT_CONDUCTION` solves the static current density that electrode potentials drive through the conductors. See [Conditions and physics](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/conditions/index.md>) for how conditions attach and where they land.

### FixedPotential

**Physics** `CURRENT_CONDUCTION` · **Target** boundary · **Section** Boundary Condition · **Kind** `fixed_potential` · **API** FixedPotential

A fixed electric potential on an electrode, one end of a phase's terminal pair.

| Field | Symbol | Unit | Meaning | Sif keyword | Default |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `value` | `V` | V | Electric potential imposed on the electrode boundary; the keyword is the solver variable's name (Elmer Dirichlet semantics), single-sourced via the enum. | `Potential` | required |

Writes: The electrode potential plus the `Save Scalars` flag that makes SaveScalars integrate the electrode current.

A phase needs two electrodes at different potentials. The run integrates the current through each electrode: `Run.electrode_currents` reads it per electrode and `Run.phase_currents` per phase. See [Results](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/results/index.md>).
