# Electrostatics

`ELECTROSTATICS` solves the electrostatic potential and field. See [Conditions and physics](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/conditions/index.md>) for how conditions attach and where they land.

| Frame | Solves as | Solver stack |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Solid](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/frames/solid/index.md>) | `ELECTROSTATICS` | ElectrostaticsSolver, ResultOutputSolver |
| [Axisymmetric](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/frames/axisymmetric/index.md>) | no form |  |
| [Cartesian2D](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/frames/cartesian-2d/index.md>) | no form |  |

No shipped condition defaults to `ELECTROSTATICS`. To fix a potential, set `physics=ff.Physics.ELECTROSTATICS` on a [FixedPotential](<https://docs.femforge.io/user-guide/conditions/current-conduction/#fixedpotential>):

```python
import femforge as ff
electrode = ff.EntityTag(
    selector={ff.TagKey.NAME: "Electrode"},
    conditions=[ff.FixedPotential(physics=ff.Physics.ELECTROSTATICS, value=ff.quantity(100, "V"))],
)
```

No example or test solves this path yet; see [Status](<https://docs.femforge.io/overview/status/index.md>).
